This interactive lab-based course addresses the data revolution and its role in financial services. From electronic trading to prime brokerage to cryptocurrency, learning why data is critical in the AI era. Participants will work with data sets, perform analysis, and develop a story based on their conclusions.
Excel
This lab-driven course begins with Excel fundamentals focused on formatting, sorting, and data types. Participants work with sample raw data to be transformed into a desired summary report. Pivot Tables and Charts from basic to advanced are covered through a series of custom exercises. In addition, participants work with output from a query, determining best approaches to parse the file in Excel, incorporating various techniques, culminating in a summary report.
Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals & Tools
This course examines the fundamentals and tools of Artificial Intelligence. The limitations and strengths of Large Language Models (LLMs) are explored and analyzed. Participants learn how to leverage LLMs and integrate them into their everyday work. Participants perform hands-on exercises on AI tools, such as, ChatGPT and Claude. Participants work in groups to discuss and debate opinions on the evolving role of AI in organizations and society.
Relational Databases
& SQL
This beginner-level SQL course works through why and when to use SQL across the Software Development Lifecycle. Focus is spent on basic commands and works through how queries may behave differently. Fundamentals such as tables, columns, primary keys, foreign keys, and conditions are all covered.
Crisis Management
(Great East Japan Earthquake)
This scenario is based on the real events of March 11, 2011, which involved an Earthquake, a Tsunami, and a crack in a Nuclear Reactor. Although these events were in Japan, they had immediate global affect through trading volumes and a rising Yen. Trading volumes impacted systems that couldn’t handle volume, creating an infection of inaccurate pricing and outages for clients.
