Communication
Managing Up & Across
This interactive course strengthens influence skills as they pertain to managing upward and collaborating across functions. In addition to sharpening influence skills, participants practice various communication techniques that are relevant to manager 1:1’s and cross-functional negotiation. Participants develop a custom Manager 1:1 agenda template to support rich discussion.
Business Critical Writing
This course explores the principles of reader retention, active voice versus passive voice, conciseness, and grammar fundamentals. Participants will differentiate between various modes of written communication, i.e., chat, text, presentations, scripts, and e-mail. Group exercises introduce writing under pressure and achieving a professional tone. All participants optionally submit writing evidence as pre-work to be analyzed and upgraded.
Influence Through Storytelling Principles
This intensive course will enable participants to access advanced storytelling principles and apply them to their own existing content. Participants work through a content development framework that optimizes the way they represent their work. In addition to interactive delivery, participants will re-examine the entire process of dialogue. Personal delivery style will be addressed through simulated conditions of pressure and resistance. We will work through a 7-part presentation development method: setting your purpose, identifying your audience, harnessing content, storyboarding, editing, rehearsing, and delivery. Each participant will build their own storyline and have the chance to deliver it, while handling questions and objections. All modalities will be covered, from face-to-face to video to phone.
Navigating Difficult Conversations
This course focuses on the key fundamentals between behaviors (as evidence) and traits (what we might use to describe behaviors); and how to identify and use specific behavior pattern evidence in difficult conversations. This course will give participants a chance to analyze the cause of difficult conversations, and how to navigate them while they are happening. Developing a plan, active listening, and managing emotions are practiced in group exercises and role plays. In addition, participants explore the possible outcomes of avoiding difficult conversations.
Crucial Conversations
This course identifies the various types of crucial conversations that employees experience throughout their career. Participants follow a five-point framework that enables sound preparation and execution. Participants analyze and apply techniques to eight types of crucial conversations.
